The railway station at night from our room. Yes, it gets dark down here in the south after the white nights of the north. Major renovations round the clock at the station, so it was both dark and noisy All night. The contractor never stopped.
But what a beautiful window in the station! It shows the churches and old town with the viaducts.
The town is up on a plateau which is very deeply incised by a curving river.
The cliff made for good defences in more perilous times.....
....with turrets along the walls.
We wandered along the river bank....
......round the bends.....
.....and ended up with a restorative glass from a pichet of rose in the Old Town Square, since we had to climb up from the ravine!
Just a one night stand.
